NOTE: If anyone could point up the contrast between the faith (or lack of it) between Zacharias and Mary - it would be Elisabeth. She lived with her husband Zacharias 9 months in a “dumb” state because of his unbelief. So when Mary visited Elisabeth, and both she andher unborn child were were filled with the Spirit because of this visit, then Elisabeth blessed Mary for believingthe message from God through Gabriel!
Mary's response was indeed glorifying to God. She questioned Gabriel concerning how conception could take place seeing she was engaged but not yet married. This was a legitimate question, notlike that of Zacharias. Gabriel patiently and graciously explained to her how God planned the birth of His Son Jesus through her. And she said in her own words, “I receive God's plan. Be it unto me according to His REma, His revealed word!” And so it happened!
Notice at this point, - the Holy Spirit was not yet given in His fullness until the day of Pentecost. One could be filled with the Spirit prior to this time. The Spirit also came upon individuals in OT times such as Samson. But Immersionin the Spirit - being baptized in the Spirit as one is baptized or immersed in water - thisplaces us inGod. The former places Him in us. The Holy Spirit baptizes us into Christ for salvation. Jesus baptizes us into the Holy Spirit for union and communion with God. This is receiving the gift, the “do-reA” of the Holy Spirit according to Acts 2:38. This followsrepentance and water baptism. Those who do not press into receiving the full “Peter package of Acts 2:38 - have the Spirit in them like Elisabeth and John the Baptist and Mary, but have not yet received the fullpackage of inthe Spirit by the Holy Spirit coming upon (ePI) them according to Acts 1:8. Dr. J. Edwin Orr illustrated the 2-fold baptism by placing an empty glass in a sink with a stopper in the sink. Letting the water fill the glass only - is the Spirit in us. Allowing the water to overflow the glass and fill the sink and the glass - is the second baptism - putting us in God. Let us not settle for anything less that the doubleSpirit baptism.
Then note 1:41-44. John the Baptist as an embryo of 6 months was filledwith the Spirit - and in joy (a-gal-liAsei - Strong # 21) leaped in his mother's womb. Think of how this undercuts the sin of abortion! From the moment of conception, God recognizes the unborn life! For when Elisabeth in the Spirit returned Mary's greeting, who had just conceived Jesus by the Holy Spirit - yet - Elisabeth called Mary at thattime the mother of her (Elisabeth's) Lord! Jesus at this point is not yet a one month embryo!
People who say - “Oh - that's just the Bible - we don't have to receive thatfor Abortion and gay-sin thinking! No? But for honestseekers - turn to our Website - <www.2rbetter.org>- and seek out “Interlinear” - God's Bible Numeric Interlinear Greek NT. Here is a scientific, mathematical proof that the Christian Bible with the Jewish OT - and the Christian Bible alone - is God's Plumbline to evaluate all theories and human conclusions. Because there isa proof that the Bible isthe Creator God's Word - then all that follows must find itself confirmed by this Word - or be forced to acknowledge such ideas as merely human and false.
